Okay you guys... three engine ferry is no big deal! I repeat NO BIG DEAL!!! This airplane has four of these bad boys (R2800 engines) and can fly and safely land with just two if need be. These planes were build to last and build with post WWII insight and technology ~ in other words they took into consideration... what if this airplane was being shot at? Could it fly with just three or two engines?
Besides isn't that the coolest photo with no. 4 engine feathered and no. 3 turning?! I sure think so. :)
And tons safer too ~ if the engine is not running smoothly it is better to shut it down than wait for it to self destruct.
