Denali ~ the Great One
A view of Denali that is from a higher altitude than the previous photos posted. Plus the moon. Bonus!

Kotzebue in January
Well you see... a wager was made and a winner achieved! The wager was who would come through first: a new post on Alaska Flying or a jar of Minnesota salsa in our mailbox. The winner is the Salsa Queen! Who, by the way, makes the best salsa this side of the Mississippi, she does. But even the runner up needs to pony up as they say.
Everyone has heard of Kotzebue, Alaska. Here is the metropolis of Kotzebue, taken from the south looking north as the glow of the January sun is at its peak.
Welcome to 2016 and we hope to be more active in sharing photos with you. Wish us luck!

Up Hill
It's all up hill from here! Waiting to get unloaded while at a stop on the West Coast of Alaska. Not much out here this time of year but snow.

Above 10,000 Feet
The DC6’s that we fly are now unpressurised and if we fly above 10,000 feet for any length of time over 30 minutes we have to be on oxygen. Nice cosmonaut mask wouldn’t you say?

Winter Flying
Not all days out flying are clear blue skies and sunshine especially when you fly around Alaska in the winter time. At four o’clock in the afternoon it can be pitch black, and during a stop in Fort Yukon the weight and balance must be completed with the assistance of the headlamp.

Deadhorse Flying
Seven more wake-ups and Deadhorse will be a thing of the past for this Captain, at least for a while. Good thing the weather has been very generous.
