Unalakleet from Above

So this is Unalakleet passing under us on our way to Nome. The airway takes us right over the top. If it's one the three nice days a year at this location, then we enjoy the view. A very cold and windy place in the winter.
You t.v. watchers out there will recognize the name of this village from a popular Alaska aviation program. Legally I can't promote the show, but you know the one.

Descending into Nome

If I remember right, this is on short final into Nome. Always a good setup for photos if the sun is right. Gotta love the shadow shots!

What's Missing?

My seat that's what! The height adjustment malfunctioned and I was stuck with my seat all the way up for the whole flight back. To fix it they took it out and repaired the adjusting rod that had broken. Looked pretty funny with no seat there, and we got to clean up two years worth of stale cheetos and pistachio shells.
No Mom, I did not fly it with no seat installed but thanks for wondering!

Life on the River

Unloading a Trailer in Point Lay

Our Engineer was willing to go the extra mile to secure this trailer for offloading. He was also the lightest of our crew and so the obvious choice for a delicate balancing act. Good job Brian!

Era Alaska - Caravan

This Caravan (Cessna 208) was behind us landing in Point Lay. He unloaded his people, loaded up new ones and left again. Most likely he was going back and forth to Barrow.

Point Lay

Landing in Point Lay. Northern coast of Alaska, about 150 miles South-Southwest of Barrow. Point lay is an LRRS and a Native village. Note the spits when the tide is low, this village is right on the coast. I remember it because the weather is notorious for being either fantastic or awful. This day it was Fantastic!

Mid-flight Catastrophe!

"Oh Crap! I forgot to charge my I-Pod!"

The Captain forgot to charge the tunes up. Luckily we were all having a good day and filled in the gaps with jokes and stories.
